2 miles

I just wanted to let you know that for 3 days now I have been waking up at 5:30 am and walking for 2 miles!!! Oh yes! I even plan to keep up with that. It's a lot easier when you actually have someone to walk with, way less boring.

Today, on top of the 2 miles, I exercised to my corny video.

I am quite proud of myself.
I found this recently...just thought I'd share!

fried chicken and french fries

We haven't been doing the greatest on this healthy eating, but I do feel that we are getting better. I drink more water and way less soda which is a BIG step for me. Sweet tea does seem to work it's way in at least every other day. Whoops!

In husband's lunch I pack more fresh fruits and veggies since he really needs it being outside in the scorching heat all day! I try to work in 2 fruits everyday...still need to work on the veggies. That's where smoothies should come in but let's face it, I am a slacker at making smoothies too. Step it up Rhiannon!!

I am proud to say that when we went for a small road trip yesterday I ate steamed broccoli with my fried chicken and french fries. Ha ha! I wish I could redo the fried chicken and fries though because I did not feel good at all after I ate that. *blah*

Oh yes! I've also been doing a 30 minute exercise video 5 days a week. It's a very corny video so I'm not even going to say what it is, BUT it works!

For dinner tonight I'm planning on making Sweet and Sour Chicken without frying the chicken. We'll see how that turns out.

Here's some cute pictures of the bubbies

What a cutie!

taco bell

I must admit... I relapsed last night. After 1 day. Don't judge. Taco Bell has magical powers.

I have concluded that going strictly all vegetables and fruits is way too difficult and disgusting. Every single healthy dish I've made has turned out horrible. SO, the new plan is to feed the family as much fresh fruit and veggies as possible but still be able to make a "healthy" dinner. Basically, meat, cheese, and dairy will still be apart of our lives.

And smoothies will make an appearance everyday. That way we can hide some vegetables behind the yummy fruit. Plus, they fill you up.

We also joined LoseIt.com. It's a really neat website. Enter your current weight and your goal weight and it calculates how many calories you should eat a day in order to meet your goal. So awesome!!! I love it.

No more Taco Bell...for real.

a nasty dish

The French Bean Salad I mentioned yesterday...disgusting! The beans, tomatoes, and green onions were good, but the dressing...nasty! I even tried to overhaul the stupid recipe by washing the beans of the grossness. That didn't work too well. The whole pound of french beans, 2 tomatoes, and 4 green onions went down the garbage disposal because neither of us could down the stuff.

Anywho, I'm feeling pretty good about my eating today. I'll fill you in:

Breakfast: Honey Bunches of Oats with Low Fat Lactaid
Snack: Fruit and Veggie Smoothie (we added some spinach so we could get in some vegetables)
Lunch: PB & J
Dinner: Beans! Without the cornbread (so sad)
Snack: Milkshake made with fresh mint, natural chocolate, Lactaid, and frozen bananas! It was delicious.

So it was not an amazingly healthy food day but we're getting there. Baby steps people, baby steps. Oh. And we did go for a walk, which is rare around here.

And here are our beginning pictures. *cringe* Don't mind my clothes, knees, or mile-long hair. Just focus on the fat.

pricey

Just got back from gathering skinny people food. Can you say expensive?! Geez moley. But, our health is important so it is worth the expense.

Tomorrow will the be first day of only healthy food. Actually, I'm quite proud of myself, as I am currently eating dried fruit. Apparently that's much better for you than chocolate.

Warning: Expect some fat people pictures tomorrow, I have decided to put some before pictures of us up. Embarrassing, I know.

Gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm off to make French Bean Salad!

and so it begins...

The day is almost here! The day that I go to the grocery store and only return with "healthy" food. I'm going to admit...I'm pretty scared. I love to eat, cook, bake, and so does the husband. This could be a problem.

Hopefully this blog will help keep us on track...I'm pretty bad about sticking to food commitments.

I've been doing tons and tons of research on the Mercola website. We're hoping to change our lifestyle rather than doing a "diet." I'd really like to raise my daughter in a fruit and veggies environment rather than a corn dog and french fries one. I have learned so much from Dr. Mercola. I will never eat a Chicken McNugget again! I highly recommend that every one subscribe to his newsletters, very informative.

I might put some before pictures of the husband and I so we can track our weight throughout this whole lifestyle makeover. But I'm pretty self conscious...so it's a debate going on in my head right now. I'll let you know the outcome though.

But first...I must finish these!

Wish us luck!!!
